Goat Liver with Gravy (Bakry ki Kaleji) (Eid Special Recipes Series-2)
Hi Foodies,
Today I have come up with recipe of Bakry ki Kaleji for you so that you can give it a try on this coming Eid. Because its more like a tradition that we cook kaleji first after Qurbani. Lets start the recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 Kg Kaleji (washed and cut according to likings)
- 1/2 Cup Cooking Oil
- 1 Big Onion (Chopped)
- 3 Tablespoon Garlic Paste (Lehson ka Paste)
- 2 Tablespoon Ginger Paste (Adrak ka Paste)
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 1/2 Cup Yogurt (or you can add 3 tomatoes if you don't have yogurt) (Beat it before use)
- 2 Tablespoon Red Chili Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Salt (or to taste)
- 1 Tablespoon Cumin Seeds (Zeera)
- 2 Tablespoon Garam Masala
- 2 Tablespoon Coriander Powder (Sokha Dhania)
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Dry Fenugreek Leaves (Sukhi Methi)
Method:
Add oil in a vessel or cooking pan, after its heat up add onion and saute it until it is golden brown and then add ginger and garlic paste and saute them until golden brown. Now add Goat Liver (Kaleji) and fry it by gradually adding water until it is soft.
Now add beated yogurt, red chili powder, salt, cumin seeds, garam masala, coriander powder, turmeric powder and dry fenugreek leaves (Sokhi Methi) and cover it and let it cook on very low flame until oil has appeared on it. It would take about 20 minutes.
ProTip: Before cleaning and cutting of kaleji, you can sprinkle 1 cup (or according to the need) of dry flour and let it set aside for half hour so that it won't be smelly.
